Hi everybody,

This is my list of my top 7 Barry Eisler books.  I know everyone  has there own favourites, but here's why I think each has it's place on my top 7

1) Hard Rain.
Think this is obviously the best book simply for the reason of the Cinematic standoff  "in the Rain" with  the baddie and his pitball. It's pure visual mind candy. Rain almost gets his butt kicked. This is "The Empire Strikes Back "of  the series.
Oh yeah, also the shock death of Harry, a major character...who saw that coming?

2)Rain fall.
This was a toughie.
Rainfall was a fantastic book, that made you feel like a covert operative as you read it. Totally original and  the fact that we get to see John Rain in Vietnam. This book screams for a prequel.(Hope your listening Barry!) Its beaten by Hard Rain... but only just!

3)Killing Rain.
C'mon, people. Dox and the Katoey incident... Classic!
Also has the best opening line of all the books. "Killing isn't the hard part...."

4)The Last Assassin.
This is probably a controversial one. Some Rainiacs  took issue with thefact that Rain cried and was in touch with his feelings, but I loved it. ...It's called character development ppl!
Don't get me wrong I love the ruthless streak Rain has, but this book took the character to a different level... and besides, Barry autographed my copy of this book in London!

5)Fault Line.
Thought this was fantastic. A brilliant change of direction from Barry who showed that he's not a one trick pony.
This would make a brilliant movie. Dennis Haysbert for Hort!

6)Rain Storm.
Really liked this book for the pure reason that  we  meet Dox for the first time and  see the way he saves Rain's life. Good  male bonding "buddy" book.

7)Requiem for an Assassin.
You probably think I'm not a true Rainiac for mentioning this one last. But before I'm verbally lynched I would like to say that I did enjoy Requiem, especially as Dox was pivotal to the plot(and I 'm a massive Dox fan) but  I guess one of them had to be last.

Over to you...  Cool

Hi, Don!

I can't list 'em so precisely as you did, but I know that I like the ones with Dox in them best.  MMMM! Cool

And, yes, we do need a prequel to Rain Fall, so our Yojimbo can star as the young Rain.  Smiley

I think its a tie for The Last Assassin and Requiem...  But I'm with Villa.  The ones I like best have Dox in them.

Actually, if I think on it more, my favorite is Requiem... Why, you might ask?

It has Rain, Delilah, Dox, Wim, Guthrie, and a few other beloved characters.

Hmmm cannot decide. My two favourites are Requiem and The Last Assassin, but anything more precise than that is just toooo hard!

I think the writing improved with each book, and I really enjoyed Requiem For an Assassin.
Fault Line is okay, but I have not developed the rapport with Ben Treven as a character.  I am still partial to John Rain.
When I go back over the 6 John Rain books - story wise, I am still partial to Hard Rain.

Thanks Don and everyone else -- always interesting to hear why people like certain books more than others.  I'm hard-pressed to choose... I love 'em all, for different reasons...
