Wow! I`ll never look at a scrum in the same light again. But I`ll bet no porn actor ever had to tape his ears down beforehand to keep them from getting torn off.

Don't mean to get back on subject but do that many children really watch rugby? Most kids I know will barely sit still for Barney let alone when you flip to the sport networks - everybody heads out to play (I won't even mention getting them to sit still through a feature length movie). Kids would rather be playing a sport than watching it. Maybe it's just rugby fans' kids... I would get upset if they preempted the Cartoon Network or Boomerang but sports? Not so much. Besides, if my girls and I were watching sports and that came on I do believe I'd ask them to go downstairs and play while daddy and I watch some grown-up TV. 3 hours of Spice is a pretty expensive thing to waste. I'll answer any and all questions later... much later. I have had the 'talk' with my 10 year old already and it was amazing how well she took it and how much I learned from our conversation. She likened lesbianism to the several species of lizard that are hermaphrodites and how the females use one another to promote fertility - I don't know which I should worry about more, my kids watching that much Animal Planet or that she already understood lesbianism. SCARY!!! If parents make a big deal out of things like this and turn it into something evil or forbidden then the kids make a big deal out of it, get embarrassed over it, and/or find it shameful. If we kind of laugh it off then the kids really don't think too much about it.

I think there are plenty of children watching football and other sports in the U.S.-- so I can imagine there are alot of kids watching rugby and soccer in other places.
At any rate-- yes it is up to the parent to do what they see fit.
I don't think anyone should make children feel uncomfortable about things either-- but I would have been shocked had it happened in my house out of the blue-- I am sure I would have turned it off, or whatever I needed to do. My child is only 6-- and as we go about in life-- it seems the age of innocence is collapsing. I am going to keep her on the wide eyed innocent path as long as I can. fawn
